Booking flights and planning trips!

Travel blog in Japan

Tokyo, Japan

Hello travelers!

Today I have exciting news for you! I have finally booked my next trip after spending too many months (but not according to my friends and family) at home. So where am I going next?

Germany! And to be exact Berlin.

I have been to Berlin before once. It was about three years ago I think. However, there’s a catch. You can’t really count my first trip to Berlin as a real visit because I didn’t go to see any attractions nor did I walk around just to experience the place. Maybe I will someday tell you this travel story from my past in my main travel blog. But for now, let’s just say that I spend in Berlin one night and that night I slept at the airport. During that one day, I was waiting in line for a concert that I later attended to.

That’s it. All I saw was that one building where the concert was held. Kind of sad…

Despite my last visit to Berlin I have always wanted to do a proper trip to the capital of Germany. German was the first language I started to learn in school after Finnish and we had to learn a lot about the culture of Germany. Berlin always seemed like a place where the history of us Europeans but also our future mix together.

After a few weeks, I will be on my way to explore Berlin solo for five days. How cool is that? Dreams really come true!

Traveler at “Normal work”

Tallipiha in Tampere

Tallipiha, Tampere, Finland

Hello travelers!

Today I’m writing to you from work! Yes, from real work. Even travelers work sometimes and in fact, it’s a nice change when compared to my normally hectic life of almost full-time traveling. However, it only takes like two hours before I’m ready to say that thanks but no… I could never get a full-time job where I can’t decide my own work hours. How people work 5 days a week for so many hours per day?

I just don’t get it.

Call me lazy if you want. I don’t even care… 😀

With love,
Lost Viivi

How long is too long at home?

Tokyo, Japan

Hello fellow travelers!

It’s just me writing a random postcard for you once again (with a cute photo of a cafe in Tokyo). My life has been painfully boring lately… Maybe it’s because I’m used to traveling all the time and now I have spent the last 3 months at home in Finland. What has my life become when a few months at home are literally killing me?

Sometimes I curse myself for starting this travel lifestyle.

I can’t stop looking for flight deals and so tonight I will probably give in for the want to be free again. Barcelona, Gdansk, Berlin, Budapest, Tallinn… Those are just some of the cities that are taking over my mind currently. The flights are just so cheap so I can’t help myself! Where should I go? What kind of holiday should I plan this time?

With love & wanderlust,

Sunsets and sea

sunsetkalajoki

Kalajoki, Finland

Hello there somewhere!
When was the last time you saw a sunset? For me it was on my Turkey trip. The beach was quiet all around me. Everyone has already left for the dinner, sunbathers abandoned their places. I love moments like that. Just me and this new unknown city that has opened its doors for me during the short stay. Sunset is the mark of the ending but also beginning of something new.

However, because someone just happens to be the laziest person on the earth those photos aren’t yet available. (Month isn’t enough for me to edit some photos…) Instead here is a super old photo of a sunset!

Waterfall photos and travel blogging

Waterfall from Iceland travel

That one waterfall in Southern Iceland

Hello, how is adventuring going?

This photo was taken last year during my Iceland trip. We went on tour around the south coast of Iceland and saw so many waterfalls that I can’t even name this one. It was one of my best travel experiences yet. My dream has been to visit this beautiful rural northern island since we spoke about it in middle school. The photos of endless nature and breath-taking views just seemed like a dream.

All my expectation were met and even exceeded. There is no place like Iceland. You wouldn’t understand if you haven’t been there. At first, I was a little bit disappointed that my trip wasn’t during the winter but later on I come to the conclusion that this season just between autumn and winter was perfect. The green summer time was gone, there were no more autumn colors but still, we could see everything because there was no snow. Perfect timing. I may have written a dozen poems during my visit to Iceland…

Have you ever visited Iceland or walked under a waterfall? All answers to this postcard are more than welcome!

With love,
Viivi

The hidden side of Rome

Street art Rome

Rome, Italy

Hello!

Do you like the photo? Surprised it’s from Rome? I totally was when seeing it.

It was my last day in Rome and I went for a private walking tour. At this point, Rome hadn’t yet charmed me. I could see why people love it as a travel destination: all the historic sites, Vatican and perfect weather. But for me, it was just okay. The historic sites were cool but there was too many of them to see everything. Vatican I loved but again too many things to see and the amount of visitors is overwhelming. Lastly, we were dying because it was so hot.

I had been trying to find Rome from all the wrong places. Surprisingly, I always forget my own tips. Find the local areas and take the hidden roads. Right next to the most popular historic sites my local guide showed me a lively neighborhood with colorful houses, murals and street art. I fell in love with this side of Rome. It was different and it was something I would like to go back for!

Have you ever experienced anything like this while traveling? Or did you have similar feelings if you have ever been in Rome?

Streetart in Krakow

Krakow, Poland

Hello, I hope you are doing fine!

Last year I did adventure around Eastern Europe and Krakow was one of the cities I decided to visit randomly without it even being in my plan. The bus there was cheap and I had loved Poland when being in Gdansk earlier in the same year. I recommend visiting Krakow for everyone but one of my favorite things may sound surprising.

On the old town wall artists we selling their art like you can see in the photo. I would walk along the wall for so many times that the sellers probably thought I was planning a heist to steal their business. Those colorful paintings just looked so cool and dreamy covering the whole wall. Especially, on rainy days. Better than any of the “real tourists attractions”.

Have you odd favorite tourist attractions in cities you have visited? Do you ever dream of covering your own room with paintings/prints like these? (I admit that my decoration skills suck and covering your room walls with colors may not be the best idea…)

Addicted to writing guides

writing guides

Hello there!

If you are reading my other blogs, you may already know that I’m a huge writing guide addict. In fact, I have over 20 writing guides on my bookshelf and that’s a lot when you take in count that I bought the first guide roughly six months ago. These two books I bought from my recent Helsinki trip. The bookstore in there is a lot bigger when compared to my hometown so I could not pass the opportunity to get these books. Okay!? I don’t have a problem! I will someday read all these books. I promise…

So, am I the only one or has anyone else addiction of buying books? Or maybe buying something else “you totally need to have to make your life better”?

Falling love with Venice

Beautiful Venice

Beautiful canal, Venice, Italy

I have just returned from my trip to Venice. I don’t even know what to say… I have once again fallen in love. Not with person but with city, beautiful place and getting lost. I knew even before going that Venice was going to be one of those places that I would see myself calling as home in the future. It still surprised me just how much I loved this city and getting lost around its narrow streets. Now you will hopefully see a lot of more photos from my Italy trip!

And btw, don’t forget to follow my InstagramFacebook and Twitter!
