Beach before summer

DSC02785

Turku, Finland

What’s your favorite time to go for a beach? Most people will answer right away, summer. In my opinion, this needs deeper thinking than just giving the first answer coming to my mind.

Summer on the beach is of course amazing! Going to swimming, hot sand and sunbathing for hours. Relaxation is the keyword when we talk about summer beaches. That’s nice for a few days but not my favorite time to go to the beach.

Winter, on the other hand, has its own charm. You can’t see the sand or water (I’m now talking about Finnish winters with too much snow everywhere). This means walking on the ice/lake’s surface is possible and so you can just go from one beach to another without thinking the water under you. Winter also means skiing and skating on the ice!

Both of those seasons are nice and all but my favorites are autumn and spring. Today’s postcard photo was taken a year ago in Turku. Spring had just begun.

The raw nature, quietness and tragic atmosphere of beach in autumn or spring make me feel poetic. Stormy sky. Dark wet sand under my sneakers. Only deadly cold water making sounds when hitting the beach. Perfect. I find these moments perfect and so my answer to the question is spring or autumn.

Beach in my hostel?

IMG_5069

I forget the name of this hostel in Budapest…

How are you doing?
It’s finally starting to feel like a summer in Finland and so what would be a better way to celebrate this than sharing photos of different kind of beaches all week long? We will start with a photo from Budapest. Palm trees and dreamy blue color. I felt like staying on beach during my stay in this hostel!

The fun thing is that I arrived in the hostel late at night but there was literally no one else. Just me and the two people who checked me in. I had this room fully for myself. Palm trees and all. That’s why I was able to take this photo without feeling embarrassed of taking photos of the painting above someone’s bed.

If you ask my opinion hostels with a small decorations like this are the best. What do you think? Like always all comments are more than welcome!

With love,
Summer Viivi

Inspiration from Alanya

Alanya's beaches

Alanya, Turkey

Hello all travelers!

It’s once again time to awake this daily photography blog. If you follow me on my other blogs or on Twitter, you may have heard that I once again am trying daily blogging challenge. (Check my schedule from below.) My weekly plan now includes writing seven photography posts for this blog so let’s see how long I can keep this going.

The photo above is from Alanya. My holiday there last month was life changing you could say. Or maybe not life changing but at least full of motivation. I decided to start taking this blogging thing more seriously. Not too seriously but more seriously. Meaning that I will give my all for this daily writing thing. In the end, blogging is right now one of the top things on my list of everything making me happy

See you tomorrow!

Abandoned Brighton

Travel Blog

BRIGHTON, UK

This was definitely my favorite thing in Brighton. Abandoned pier in the middle of ocean. Why decided it would be good idea to leave it there?

I have always been interested about abandoned things. Someone may remember my infamous accidental trip to abandoned amusement park in Japan. I may have spent a few hours just sitting in the beach and staring this interesting structure. And I wasn’t the only one!
