Star Wars Maniac

lelukauppa_tokio

I admit being Star Wars fan and being in Tokyo just before the new movie came out was dreamy experience. Movie merch everywhere and even life sized character figures on the shop doors. I was on heaven and this photo shows that perfectly. I spend too much time in this toy store section…

Whale in Ueno

whale_ueno_tokyo

For me symbol of Ueno park was this huge whale statue. Funny thing is that after visiting Japan I started to see this place in many Japanese TV-series I watched. (My guilty pleasure is Japanese detective series… I’m sorry but I’m not sorry.)

Skyscraper Like Sky

osakasky

For this photo I don’t have any specific story like usually. I just really love photographing the sky and liked the way it mirrors from that building. People probably though I was crazy photographing this building when I was standing right next to Osaka castle. Well the building’s age doesn’t define if I will find it beautiful…

Performance on Street

streetconcert

I decided to spend day exploring around Harajuku, Japan. I was already got used to street performances happening around the city without warning and I totally loved it. I came across this drummer group four times on my Harajuku day. This photo is from first time when they had taken over whole street. Next time was on another street, then on shopping mall’s stairs and the last time on yet another street. They were so cool!

Tokyo’s Trains

tokio_junat

I took this photo after ending my bad start at Tokyo and moving to new place. I was moving my huge suitcase when I was awed by this view. It was just like right from some anime or Japanese drama. To tell the truth I am addicted with this shot! It wraps up my whole experience in Tokyo.

Students in Ueno Park

starbucksueno

If you want to get know a real side of city, you should visit local park. That’s what I did in Tokyo when living next to Ueno park. Seeing all the people living their every day lives, hurrying trough the park or just stopping to hang out with their friends. Especially seeing students having fun with their friends on their way to home made me feel nostalgic. Not so long ago I was like them. No worry about the days ahead of me.

Secret Art On Harajuku

art_tokyo

I was lost some where in Harajuku area in Tokyo, Japan. I was trying to find cafe but ended up finding small museum full of colorful art. Taro Okamoto memorial museum. Later I saw his works in surprising places around Japan. Like one huge sculpture in middle of nowhere when riding night bus to Hiroshima.

Tokyo from Sky Garden

tokio_rautatieasema

I had read from internet about sky garden showing off old side of Tokyo Station. I did not know it would be so hard to find. I walked in between the tall buildings and wondered should I just walk in some of them randomly. For me (small town girl) everything looked same and soon I had no idea where I was.

I just kept walking circles about a hour and finding interesting small shops and places to visit. Then without warning the shopping mall containing the garden was in front of me. Ten floors up and I finally found the sight I had come for.

Falling in Love With Arashiyama

arashiyama green river

In Kyoto, Japan there is two places above all that charmed me. One is Fushimi Inari and the another one is Arashiyama. This photo sums-up my love for Arashiyama and its beautiful nature.

I took accidentally the wrong path but just couldn’t stop walking it. I kept walking the river bend and fell in love. When the center of Arashiyama was full of tourists here in this side road I only saw locals in hiking boots. Some of them even stopped me and asked if I was lost.
