Traveler at “Normal work”

Tallipiha in Tampere

Tallipiha, Tampere, Finland

Hello travelers!

Today I’m writing to you from work! Yes, from real work. Even travelers work sometimes and in fact, it’s a nice change when compared to my normally hectic life of almost full-time traveling. However, it only takes like two hours before I’m ready to say that thanks but no… I could never get a full-time job where I can’t decide my own work hours. How people work 5 days a week for so many hours per day?

I just don’t get it.

Call me lazy if you want. I don’t even care… ūüėÄ

Restless Soul

Hello there!

How is your life going? Anything exciting happening for you? I feel like I’m stuck in the boring normal. (Even if my life is far from boring or normal…)¬†I have been at home for a month and even during this month I have done a weekend cruise with family. In three weeks I will go for a road trip around Germany and right after that two months trip to Japan. So boring, right?

But it has nothing to do with my travels or me finally going towards my dreams. I don’t do good with routine and that’s what my life is right now. I woke up at morning, do the job I love, blog for hours, drink too many cups of tea, read books and watch movies. It sounds like a dream life even when I read it but still, something is missing. Something just doesn’t work out. My feet are restless and heart missing new unknown lands.

It’s hard to read my own mind and I just need to leave somewhere, do something I have never done before…

With love,
Viivi Severina

Sunsets and sea

sunsetkalajoki

Kalajoki, Finland

Hello there somewhere!
When was the last time you saw a sunset? For me it was on my Turkey trip. The beach was quiet all around me. Everyone has already left for the dinner, sunbathers abandoned their places. I love moments like that. Just me and this new unknown city that has opened its doors for me during the short stay. Sunset is the mark of the ending but also beginning of something new.

However, because someone just happens to be the laziest person on the earth those photos aren’t yet available. (Month isn’t enough for me to edit some photos…)¬†Instead here is a super old photo of a sunset!

Beach before summer

DSC02785

Turku, Finland

What’s your favorite time to go for a beach? Most people will answer right away, summer. In my opinion, this needs deeper thinking than just giving the first answer coming to my mind.

Summer on the beach is of course amazing! Going to swimming, hot sand and sunbathing for hours. Relaxation is the keyword when we talk about summer beaches. That’s nice for a few days but not my favorite time to go to the beach.

Winter, on the other hand, has its own charm. You can’t see the sand or water (I’m now talking about Finnish winters with too much snow everywhere). This means walking on the ice/lake’s surface is possible and so you can just go from one beach to another without thinking the water under you. Winter also means skiing and skating on the ice!

Both of those seasons are nice and all but my favorites are autumn and spring. Today’s postcard photo was taken a year ago in Turku. Spring had just begun.

The raw nature, quietness and tragic atmosphere of beach in autumn or spring make me feel poetic. Stormy sky. Dark wet sand under my sneakers. Only deadly cold water making sounds when hitting the beach. Perfect. I find these moments perfect and so my answer to the question is spring or autumn.

With love,
Viivi

Beach weak continues!

finnish_forest

Rovaniemi, Finland

The second day of beach week!
And even then my photo isn’t of a¬†traditional sand beach. This is how most beaches in Finland look like. Forest all around clear blue water (or in most cases dark dirty water). I took this photo while in university exams in Finnish¬†Lapland. It’s so funny to think that just a few years ago I was ready to start studying and giving my life for a school. Right now my days are full of writing and doing whatever I WANT.

Despite the life change, Rovaniemi keeps calling me back. The city is lovely but small like most Finnish cities. The nature of Lapland just seems so beautiful. I have once visited there during autumn colors but it was years ago. Maybe I will return next year, year after that or someday in the far away future.

Have you ever visited Lapland?

Waiting for summer and cottage life

Taking photos on lake

Cottage in the middle of nowhere

Hello travelers!

Are you always ready to adventure around the world or do you need “holiday” from your exciting life like me? This photo was taken right next to our cottage. Perfect place to relax between the crazy traveler and blogger life. Just nature, animals and quietness around you. What else would wild adventurer ask from her holiday?

Cottage life is super normal in Finland. I think that like half of families living in Finland own their own cottage or visit someone else’s cottage every year. We just love our homes away from home. I can’t remember any summer from my childhood when we wouldn’t have spent at least a week on our cottage. Swimming, eating barbecue food, and playing board games. Those are the happiest memories I have.

Finding my inner girl boss

Blogger ready to travel

Airport in Finland

How are you doing travelers?

I love this photo I took just after landing back to Finland after my Turkey trip. It may not be the best quality or the prettiest one. However, it takes me back to that moment, the feelings I had in my heart.

Usually, when I’m leaving a place my mind is full of clutter and it just feels so unreal: I may never return to this place. This time something was different. I came back to my lovely¬†Finland and it was so sunny. Even the world seemed to smile for me and I couldn’t stop grinning. It felt like this trip had opened my eyes to see something new. I knew what I wanted to do. That’s rare in my life. I was going to go back home, clean the house, have one day off and then start again everything. Daily blogging, my work schedule, and life as a positive productive person.

Plans like this are normal for me. I get the idea of changing my life about once a month but it never works out. This time I for some reason knew that something was changed. My plan wasn’t going to be a fail this time around and at least now it’s working out. I’m on my second week of daily blogging but also on my third week of working six hours on fice days a week! Never felt this proud of myself…

Do you feel happy when returning back home? Or rather endless depressed thoughts? All answers to this postcard are more than welcome to the comments.

Kind regards,
Viivi

Not so warm memories

Blogging in Snowy Finland

Somewhere in Finland

Fourth day in the row!

So, this daily blogging things seems to work? Today I wanted to share a photo from winter with you. Because Finnish year is what it is, this photo was taken a month ago. Right now we have about 20-celsius¬†warmth and it’s so green everywhere! Our weather changes in second from winter to spring and from spring to summer.

I’m not missing winter but it’s a little too shiny outside. As true Finn, I will always find something to complain about our weather… It’s our thing.

What kind of weather is it in your home country right now?

Blogger’s summer holiday

Finnish summer scenery

Church in Finland

Hello there, how are you doing?

Today’s postcard is going to be full of summer holiday and blogging thoughts. The photo above was taken during my last summer while working. The last 4 years or so I have been in different summer jobs and loved all of them dearly. I applied for one job this year (Who wouldn’t want to be robot¬†mower’s babysitter?). However, it’s unlikely that I will get this job so generally speaking my holiday will this year be free of working for others!

So, what plans I have for my summer?¬†Even if I won’t be working for others, there will be a lot of working for myself. This business thing is¬†taking off slowly so I will literally write whole June. It’s not a bad thing! In addition to that, I was invited on two family holidays. At the beginning of June, we will go for Stockholm cruise. While at the end of June my family flies to Germany where we will drive around sightseeing¬†castles. Right after that trip I will fly by myself to Japan and stay there for few months. My perfect summer is full of writing and traveling around the world!

What holiday plans do you have? Any jobs or trips around the world? Feel free to answer this postcard in the comments!

With sunny wishes,
Viivi
